Best City Music Festivals
Sounds good to us. We reveal Melbourne's best city music festivals.
1. Brunswick Music Festival || 14-25 Mar 2012. brunswickmusicfestival.com.au.
Backed by a Moreland Arts Company, this annual inner-city music festival is the councils biggest multicultural and arts event. With a repertoire of blues, folk roots and world music, hear emerging artists alongside some established favourites. This year’s festival starred Grammy award-winner Tim O’Brien and the US rockabilly singer Rosie Flores.
2. Summerdayze || 1 Jan 2012. futureentertainment.com.au/summadayze.
From Future Entertainment and now in its twelve year, this multi-city energetic music festival lands at Sidney Myer Music bowl on New Years Day. Dance-lovers should avoid a post-New Year’s eve hangover and prepare for a non-stop party from 9am-11pm. Hear local and international DJs including big names Armand Van Helden, David Guetta and AJAX.
3. Big Day Out || 2012 TBC. bigdayout.com/Melbourne.
Another multi-city massive one-day festival, Big Day Out has proved controversial with finding locations in Melbourne but they get great local and international artists. Inviting the likes of Birds of Tokyo, Angus & Julia Stone, Little Red and Gypsy & The Cat, it makes for not only a big, but great day out.
4. Good Vibrations ||2012 TBC. goodvibrationsfestival.com.au/Melbourne.
Landing at the Flemington Racecourse, Good Vibes hosts a great variety of artists and has a great, chilled atmosphere. Past guests have included local Grant Smille, The Ting Tings, Bag Raiders and Mike Posner.
5. St Kilda Festival || 2012 TBC. stkildafestival.com.au.
Much-loved and celebrated music-festival on the beach. Even better when the weather turns out, catch diverse local bands and up and coming acts. On the Sunday, over 60 bands can be seen across various stages as well as other entertainment – from comics and street performers. The best thing – it’s free!
