Foxy lady in Westgarth
Foxy Brown is one of those tucked-away cafes that all the locals swear by.
On a corner block in a residential street of Westgarth, tables line the footpath and the large inside dining room and adjoining courtyard are flooded with sunshine. There’s a retro feel and the service is super-friendly and efficient.
There are plenty of pups lolling under tables outside, while inside it’s a mixed crowd of people on laptops, catch-ups of friends and a family here and there. It feels exactly like the kind of café you’d love to move into and toil away your working day inhaling the wafts of coffee.
The menu is appropriately Foxy-themed without letting the novelty over-influence the quality of the offering. Breakfasts are very generous, the ‘big breakfast’ is christened the ‘Harlem Hustle’ is and piled with New York potatoes (in wedges with their skins on) amongst other delicious morsels. Much of the menu is free range or organic. There are house-made (Cherry Tree organic beef) sausage rolls, and some delectable baked goods beckoning from the counter. Coffee from Single Origin is available as espresso or filtered.
Foxy Brow may not be new, but it’s a very well-kept secret. Do the hustle.
