Inverloch

Time for a weekend getaway

Inverloch

They’re saying sunny and 24°C this Saturday and with that assurance we find ourselves wanting to escape the confines of the urban jungle and set off on a getaway. For inspiration, allow us to re-introduce you to our faves from Inverloch.

Where to Eat & Drink

Vela 9 – 9 A’Beckett St, Inverloch. Velanine.com.au

The inspiration for our trip and we were not disappointed. Friendly yet professional service, divine local produce, and truly fantastic desserts met and exceeded our expectations. Whilst we joked about going to Vela for breakfast lunch and dinner, we did check out some other places (just for you).

Note: Vela 9 hosts Felicity and Tony are running off to get married so make a booking post December 1st.

Red Elk – 27 A’Beckett St, Inverloch

This is the local retro brekkie café with fantastic hosts, tasty treats and plenty of canine friends on the balcony.

Kilcunda General Store – 3535 Bass Hwy, Kilcunda

If you’re up for a drive, the view from Kilcunda General is almost as good as the pancakes.

Archie’s on the Creek 81 Archie’s Creek Rd, Archie’s Creek. Archiesonthecreek.com.au

This tiny town’s population numbers under 50, which means you’re especially welcome. Replete with fountains, chandeliers and a particularly steak-focussed menu, the restaurant is somewhat of a surprise. If you’re after a more casual affair, try the attached café (huge burgers) and don’t miss the cellar and impressive wine room.

Where to Stay

Eugenie’s Luxury Accommodation – 16 Ramsay Boulevard, Inverloch. Eugenies.com.au

Pretty simple really, you can’t go past the stylish Eugenie’s. There isn’t a bad room in this place. Water views are the standard.

Where to Play

Claypot Cooking School – 733 Turnbull-Woolamai Road, Woolamai. Claypotcurryhouse.com.au

We were surprised by Claypot Cooking School and you’ll love it. You’ll learn the basics of Sri Lankan cooking then sit down to a delicious lunch of curries whipped up by yourself, together with a few of the house specialties. Call for further details.

We’re heading down the beach this weekend. What are you doing?
