1907 Cheese and Wine Tasting Series
Bringing the sexy back to cheese
July 02,2012
Cheese lovers are a funny bunch. They marvel at mould. They savour the stinky. They pay absolutely no regard to fat content. And while in the company of cheese, they go all gooey tongued and incoherent.
For the cheese lovers of Perth, we have some pretty epic news. 1907, one of Perth’s most stylish and gourmet restaurants, is offering Cheese and Wine Tasting evenings.
The evening begins with champagne and canapés from Head Chef Alan Desouza, like his moreish arancini or smoked salmon and micro herbs on crisp bread. Then comes the main event – a collection of fine cheeses arranged from lighter styles to more robust. The tasting might start with a delicate French Buche D’Affinois before moving to a buttery Manchego sheep’s cheese from Spain to a sharp cheddar from Scotland before finishing a flavour-packed punch of Roquefort blue. Is your mouth watering yet? It will do when you taste the incomparable Delice de Bourgogne. The heavens sing.
Without the expertly paired wines accompanying all that cheesy deliciousness, it might be too overwhelming for both palate and mind.
Restaurant Manager Harold Faizal – a passionate wine and cheese connoisseur – has created much more to smile about than a fine-tuned menu: a one-of-a-kind cheese trolley.
This flashy little darling was specially designed for 1907 and shipped in from London. It’s decked out in black marble, LED lighting and state-of-the-art temperature control. It brings the sexy back to cheese.
So whether your feelings for cheese qualify as obsessive or merely appreciative, the 1907 Cheese and Wine Tastings are a must.
