Chefs Cellar Feast
A long table dinner series for wine-loving foodies
July 04,2012
Since opening back in February, the Wine Store in East Freo has been winning over hearts thanks to its chic décor, relaxed ambiance and great food. Oh, right, its exhaustive wine list is a pretty big drawcard, too.
The Wine Store’s next project? A monthly long table dinner. The Chefs Cellar Feast kicks off today and will be held on the first Wednesday of every month. It’s a long table dinner that invites a maximum of 16 guests to dine in the beautiful, dimly lit cellar beneath the Wine Bar. It’s social, communal dining at its most intimate.
The Wine Bar chefs Jay Taylor and Matthew Carulei create a unique multi-course degustation menu that departs from the Wine Store menu. In other words, it’s a chance for the chefs to mix things up, flex their culinary muscles and have a little fun. Once the menu is finalised, the oenophiles in the Wine Store select the best wine to match each course.
On the trial night in May, guests enjoyed oysters, scallops, soup and pork served with an Argentine Blanc de Blancs, French Vouvray, Geelong Chardonnay and Mornington Pinot.
One thing’s for sure: you’ll be aching for a wine cellar of your own by the end of the meal.
