Artezen Espresso
Serving up a slice of the Southwest life
June 11,2012
Eating breakfast at Artezen Espresso is always entertaining. At the table to your right will be a group of hungover 30-somethings wolfing down eggs and coffees in an effort to cure the effects of yesterday’s wine tasting – which turned into bottle tasting. To your left, a smartly dressed couple will be poring over a tourist map, and outside will pass a river of barefoot teenagers in boardies, young families and Cape to Cape Track walkers trudging along in boots and mosquito nets.
More than just a great place to watch weekend life in Dunsborough go by, Artezen is also a fantastic place to eat.
It’s no greasy spoon – Artezen’s gourmet breakfasts are inventive, fresh and perfect after a morning swim in Geographe Bay. On our last visit we tried the Potato rosti with smoked salmon, poached egg, baby spinach, dill and crème fraiche. The contrasting texture of the crispy rosti and gooey egg was a hit. We also had a taste of the super-sweet Homemade banana bread with mascarpone and rhubarb compote. It’s the kind of breakfast you eat once a month; it’s worth every calorie-laden mouthful.
Stop by for lunch if you want to sample some of the region’s best produce. There’s the Artezen ceasar salad with Yallingup sourdough croutons, maple-roasted prosciutto topped with Margaret River free range boiled eggs, or the just-caught fresh fish of the day.
Thank you, Artezen, for giving us another reason to love the Southwest.
