How many times has this happened to you? You’ll just be driving through a quiet residential area and suddenly, amongst the houses and apartment blocks, is a café – a bustling, packed-to-the-gills community hub. We’ve already told you about some of Perth’s newest residential cafés, like Piccolo’s Corner and The Cool Room, so here’s a list of the ones that have been around a little longer thanks to their great food, cruisy ambiance and distance from the main drag. It might not exactly be new, but Little Stove is a cafe that more people should know about. It’s got this charming, country kitchen feel to it with its fireplace, cozy armchairs and shelves full of colourful teapots and antique knickknacks. It’s like visiting your favourite aunt – the one who makes amazing food and doesn’t burn the coffee. Perfect for a Sat morning catch-up with friends.

Just minutes from City Beach, Deli Chicchi is the place to go after a morning’s sun and sand. They serve gorgeous food – things like brioche French toast, crepes rolled with sweet ricotta, perfectly poached eggs and an overwhelming selection of freshly baked pastries and muffins, along with their own blend of Fiori coffee. Shelves are stocked with items like jarred preserves, books, gifts and boxed-up treats. Trust us, you won’t leave empty handed… or stomached.

Tucked in a quiet corner of Floreat is funky-yet-feminine café Fortysevenkirwanstreet. Rather than focus their creativity on their name (you guessed it – it’s their address), they’ve poured it into what’s a pretty darn creative breakfast menu. It’s earned them a bevy of regulars who drop in for savoury dishes like the very popular Mushrooms, Asparagus, Rocket, Spinach, Goats Cheese on Multi-Grain Toast or the bubbling hot shakshuka.

Because no one wants to spend their Saturday morning brunch worried about parking fines or speaking over the sound of traffic. Maybe the ‘burbs aren’t so bad after all.
