Feeling like a fancy night out? One that doesn’t include sand-covered thongs, Bintang singlets and conversation-killing, eardrum-splitting music?

Then Duchess Bar, the newest addition to Claremont Quarter, is for you. This boutique bar oozes glamour and opulence. Inside, richly wallpapered walls are adorned with ornate mirrors. Crystal chandeliers hang from the high ceilings and sumptuously upholstered furniture begs to be reclined in.

Duchess Bar has a huge selection of international and local wines and champagnes and an all-day food menu, which offers a gourmet spin on bar classics. We love the Burger Trio that includes a beef burger with Swiss cheese, house pickles and spicy tomato relish, a lamb burger with roasted capsicum and spiced yoghurt, and a chicken burger with pineapple salsa. Then there’s the Lamb Tagine Pizza with shredded lamb, apricots, almonds, rocket and yoghurt on a spiced tomato base. Perfect food to share with a bottle of bubbly.

But Duchess Bar is more than just an elegant watering hole. Every Wednesday night the bar hosts live jazz shows and on Saturdays, Elegant Tea is served, which includes mini sandwiches, quiches, sweet pastries, mini-scones and cupcakes. Not a bad way to end a day of shopping, really. Just be sure to leave the flip flops at home.
