The Steel Tree @ The Foreshore
Rocky’s cool dining just got cooler
It’s easy to stroll on past the Steel Tree on your way to Rockingham’s beachside cafes, but do so at your peril.
The Steel Tree @ The Foreshore is a relaxed, up market cafe/restaurant not to be ignored. Its walls adorned with abstract art, owners Clint, Charlotte have created a cool space by the picturesque foreshore. Named to symbolise Rockingham’s history of transporting Tuart trees, the first Steel Tree restaurant, The Steel Tree @ Settlers in Baldivis, opened in 2006. Its rapid success led to The Steele Tree @ The Foreshore only four years later. In 18 short months, it has gathered a reputation for casual dining by day and more intimate food experiences during the evening.
The extensive menu is a mix of Australian Tucker, Italian and Asian fare with an great vegetarian selection. Head chef, Owen Chaytor, rustles up a delicious Haloumi salad, a welcome tastebud tickler for jaded vego diners used to being offered a one-meal option. And if you’re there for a something a little sweeter, you won’t be disappointed with the selection of sugar overloads on offer; the apple and cinnamon vol au vents are a revelation. With some unusually good value lunch and brekkie specials, being a good reason to pop in before you reach the sea and sand.
Whether you’re in need of a quick stop for a coffee after a briny dip, or something intimate of an evening by the beach, don’t pass this one by.
