Perth Fashion Festival 2011

Ready set runway, Perth Fashion Festival is almost here

Perth Fashion Festival 2011

We’ve finally put the ugg boots to rest and wrapped up the blankets. Hayfever aside, we’re excited about Spring and with the 2011 Perth Fashion Festival days away, September doesn’t get much better.

Starting Sep 21 (next Tuesday) this 7-day fashion feast aims to promote all aspects of WA fashion and style. Now in its 13th year, 2011 promises more than ever with parades, exhibitions, workshops and pop-ups (some free, some ticketed) to be held at all new venues. Among them, WA Museum and Perth’s GPO Building.

Daily throughout the festival, outdoor cinemas at Forrest Place and the Perth Cultural Centre will screen iconic fashion films, designer and model interviews and live runway footage.

For retail therapy, emerging designers are set to hijack the shop windows of independent fashion boutiques in Northbridge for ‘Popsicle,’ filling shelves with their own homemade wares. Meanwhile, find pre-loved treasures at the Restyle Pop-Up Vintage Caravan or Two Bucks ’til Wednesday Vintage Sale at PCC.

On Wednesday 22nd, the coveted 2011 Myer Luncheon is a certain sell-out. For $110, guests will be treated to fashion courtesy of designers Ellery, Manning Cartell, Yeojin Bae, Wayne Cooper and others, not to mention fine food and wine.

Opening night sees Yeojin Bae launch her latest at Fashion Paramount’s Hackett Hall (WA Museum) before the first of 3 Designer Capsules featuring Little Gracie, Lisa Marjanovich and Paper Skye.

On Saturday Sep 25, it’s the WA Designer Collections with collections from 13 of WA’s top designers. From there, see the latest from WA Designer of the Year Ae’lkemi before hitting The Fashion Bar for cocktails.

On Sunday Sep 26 a Student Runway Show will precede the STM Swimwear Show with WA’s best swimwear designers Kooey and Bernice Sara staring. Later, Melbourne-based designer Magdelena Veleveska, one of British Vogues Top Picks, will present her stand-alone show.

Other highlights include a decadent Wheels and Dollbaby 25th Birthday Celebration and Fashion Friday event at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel.

From photography workshops to runway shows, ticketing events will soon sell out. So if you’re a fashion fanatic, get yourself a program.

When: 21 Sep – 27 Sep 2011
