Rummage
A treasure trove of treats
Imagine wandering along in the midst of Christmas shopping indecision only to discover a barrage of bright colours, eccentric creations and one-of-a-kind pieces which would be perfect for that person who’s always so difficult to buy for.
This sort of treasure trove is exactly what Northbridge-based company Rummage offers those who may be struggling to find the perfect gift as the big day draws nearer.
It’s somewhat difficult to describe exactly what this store is – other than a delightful accumulation of whimsical clothing and accessories: sexy swimwear, an onslaught of colour-blocked handbags, sunglasses and accessories to bring out the most daring side of every girl’s fashion sense.
The company’s mantra: “Life is too short to blend in” is evident in every piece– you’ll have more difficulty finding a commonplace accessory as opposed to something quirky and fun.
Owner Emily Gibson – a professional costume designer now focussing on fashion – launched Rummage in 2005 in an attempt to give those ‘creative consumers’ artistic treasures which will give them the ability to evoke individuality and a sense of excitement.
Rummage certainly does that. Since the beginning it has brought together individual creations from designers both far and wide, presenting them as wholesale opportunities while also exhibiting at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week and Life Instyle. A little over a year ago Gibson brought the fashion to the streets with the opening of her first ever store in Northbridge.
If everyone made Rummage a destination on their Christmas shopping journey, we seriously doubt people would still be struggling with the “I don’t know what to get…” line.
But Rummage is just not for Christmas. Keep an eye out for exciting 2012 additions as the company launches headlong into its second year of physical operation.
