Captain Ruin

A Perfect One Night Stand

Captain Ruin

Fancy a one-night stand? Then take up Captain Ruin’s invite and join him for his Perth debut next week. He’s been called the Iggy Pop of circus and he brings his new solo performance, an anarchic sideshow mixing politics and comedy, to the Fringe Festival. Melbourne’s Captain Ruin, AKA Mitchell Jones, has entertained audiences around Australia with his ferocious wit and amazing circus acts.

Using tales from his own run-ins with authority, Captain Ruin shares his observations and ideas for social order. He has travelled some of the most challenging of places of the world, learning the ancient arts of balance from Indian sadhus, drinking bootleg whiskey with atheists in Iran and being incarcerated in a Turkish Prison for six weeks, before popping his handcuffs in the back of a police van.

Captain Ruin’s show is interactive, as he presents cabaret routines that are then chosen by the audience. He deftly weaves this with topical social comedy, satire and circus to create the Perfect One Night Stand; fun, unique, and a little bit dirty. Ruin is funny, playful and irreverent and Melbourne’s Age has called him “Slapstick on Speed.”  If a raw, raunchy, punk variety show is your idea of a perfect one night stand, grab your tickets while you can.
