Animators Hour
Two months of animated extravaganza starts tonight
February 23,2012
Fancy yourself at the helm of the next Pixar animation extravaganza? Well if animation floats your boat, then Northbridge Piazza could be your ocean of opportunity. Believe it or not, Perth is home to an exciting community of animators and their previously hidden talents will be revealed this month when Animators Hour begins its eight week long stint tonight on the Super Screen.
With a mix of Perth, Australian and International work, a large variety of whacky, hilarious, quirky, innovative and just plain cool stuff will be shown to the backdrop of the city lights.
Organised by Aska, a local, passionate animator, it’s a chance for the general public to get in touch with a world usually only viewed by enthusiasts. To make even it more appealing to the uninitiated, the organisers are running a side project that gives us all a chance to prove we too can come up with the next Toy Story. They’ve called the competition Bunny Cakes; the public are presented with a title, character and piece of music and asked to come up with either written, drawn or even, for the doodlers amongst us, their own animation. All the best ideas will be worked into a professional animation short film to be shown on the big screen.
Whether you’re a Shrekkie or just love those cartoon capers, Animators Hour is a chance to let your creative spirit run wild. Grab a beanbag and let the fantasy begin.
