Jekyll and Hyde
Darlinghurst's new alter-ego
May 28,2012
Jekyll and Hyde, the latest venue to join the hustle and bustle of Victoria St, is a suave and sophisticated addition to Darlinghurst’s blossoming bar scene.
This brainchild of loveable duo James Anderson and Sam Fuller was inspired by the famous Robert Louis Novel and aims to embrace both sides of its alter ego. By Day, meet Dr Jekyll for delicious brunch and lunch offerings alongside a cup of quality single origin coffee. By night, introduce yourself to Mr Hyde at the more debaucherous wine bar.
The fit out lands you right in the middle of an old school London speakeasy – this place oozes elegance of the classiest variety. Dim low lighting creates a seductive ambiance laced with sophistication in amongst the perfect hum of friendly whispers and chatter.
If a cheeky beverage is all you are after take a seat on the carefully crafted leather chairs around the fire place and relax into the warm glow. A classically inspired dining area is available, including a heated secret garden styled courtyard, if you wish to indulge your tastes buds in some of the delectable tapas.
The menu is a glamorous selection of regional tasting boards with the current selection (regions changed every 4 weeks) including; Spanish, Italian, French and Asian Cuisine. All beverages on the wine and cocktail menu have been designed to complement the array of edible regions so that you can fully immerse yourself in another culture for the night. Highly recommended from the Spanish tasting board, the pan fried Chorizio wih apple cider, tomato and parsley in collaboration with a glass of Spanish Telmo Rodriguez Red.
The boys have grand plans for Jekyll and Hyde which includes rolling out live music in the next couple of weeks. This gorgeous new Darlo adventure is just what the doctor ordered.
