Jurassic Lounge
Bust your best Cro-Magnon dance moves and party with dinosaurs
February 24,2011
There is nothing pre-historic about the Jurassic Lounge in the Australian Museum. This unlikely spot for a bar becomes jammed-packed each Tuesday night, blending creative hipsters, live performers and an electric mix of DJs.
If sipping your cocktail of choice while being surrounded by dinosaur skeletons, precious gemstones and native animals tickles your fancy, then this is the kind of bar is for you.
It’s certainly nothing like your normal humdrum Tuesday night at the movies. Think surreal and sexy, with live performances by The Brutal Poodles and Charity Turner, and a dude named Jumbo, who performs live art acts such as body painting. If you’ve had a big day, chill out to the Silent Disc or watch a short film by Sydney’s Kino Collective.
For those more in the mood for mystery, track down Illusionist G for some crafty card tricks. There’s also a scattering of cushions for guests to rest their weary soles and listen to the tunes of such artists as Brad Robson or Daisy from Bridezilla.
So make history and check it out before it becomes extinct.
When: Tuesdays from Feb 1-Apr 19 | 5.30-9.30pm
Where: Australia Museum, 6 College St, Sydney
Cost: $15 per person (includes first drink)
Note: Strictly for adults only
