Zephyr Ball
Vintage French, a great cause, a great time
August 19,2011
There was once a time when ‘pomped up’ aristocrats would go to the ball. You’d be greeted by your formal title, talk about your plots of land and look particularly self-indulged (we went and they were fun). These days though balls are often connected to charity, are often themed and more often than not are a big excuse to get dressed up and have a great party (equals more fun).
One such excuse for having ‘more fun’ and a good one is the Zephyr Ball. This ‘Vintage French’ soiree is in its 3rd year and is making its debut in Sydney.
Zephyr’s target – YOU! Zephyr was founded by a group of young professionals who identified the relative absence of charity events targeting the young professional set. They now generate awareness for under recognised causes and this year it’s the Big Brothers and Big Sisters – a leading mentoring program for vulnerable young people.
The theme - Vintage French style. The uber cool warehouse venue – ‘The Space’ in Alexandria – will be decked out in theme; the guys will be in black tie, the girls in cocktail glamour (a touch of Vintage French please) and the food & drink organised by creative party specialists “Bright Young Things”.
Last year they raised $20,000. This year help to go beyond that. Give to a cause that has a simple vision – Every young person who needs a mentor, has a mentor.
Tickets: $120, available here.
When: Saturday September 3rd, 8pm
Where: The Space, 282 Wyndham Street, Alexandria
