Reclaim The Lanes
Free laneway party
March 15,2012
The west is best this Saturday, especially in Nowtown where there’ll be a festival of the roving kind. Reclaim The Lanes is a community based non sponsored parade run by volunteers who are all about celebrating the forgotten and underused urban spaces of the Inner West.
It’s a free roaming party that started four years back as an idea between friends. People can join in the parade as it stop at two secret laneway locations for an hour each. You get to experience the potential of the forgotten laneways of Newtown for yourself whilst getting involved in a bit old fashioned community spirit. Expect bands, sound systems, games, activities for kids, picnics in the lanes and public art to form part of the entertainment.
The day winds down in dance and music to a central Newtown location where the festival continues into the early evening.
Where: The parade leaves from the Hub at 2.40pm Sharp. Check Facebook for more details
