Let It Bleed
Get access to the Stones
August 26,2010
For its understated exterior on Elizabeth Street, Blender Gallery hosts an impressive line-up of exhibitions. The (almost) Spring season kicks off this Thursday with the opening of the much-acclaimed Let It Bleed exhibition by photographer Ethan Russell.
This is a behind-the-scenes peek at life on tour with roving rockers the Rolling Stones and Ethan Russell’s work is no less than iconic.
Having toured the globe with rock legends and captured album covers for The Who and The Beatles Russell is regarded as one of the finest rock photographers of all time.
The highly acclaimed exhibition Let It Bleed is a compendium of the images Russell snapped on the Stones’ 1969 tour of America, which has enjoyed rave reviews in the US and Europe before landing on our shores.
The 23-year old Russell became the Stones’ photographer between ‘68 and ‘72 and now these captured rock moments, such as the infamous Altamont Speedway gig, that turned murderously sour are on show at the Blender Gallery. The exhibition opens tonight (26th August) at 6pm and continues thru’ the 5th October.
The 80-odd stills make for a thrilling visual history of this epic tour.
