Bondi Picnic
Bondi’s newest picnic hot spot
March 20,2012
Sydney siders are well known for their fast paced and on trend lifestyles but every now and then even the best of the best need to kick back and take a minute to enjoy the sunshine.
Bondi Picnic, the latest coolio café to hit the East, will help you do just that. Simplistic in design, fresh and wanker free this new Bondi addition has taken on prime position at the corner of Hall and Glenayr St. What we like most about this new eatery, besides the fact that Andrew Crabbe (Bondi Icebergs) is involved, is that is hasn’t relied on lavish furnishings or an over the top gimmick to create an effortless chic atmosphere. Instead, what allows this corner prize to create and own its undeniable cool kid vibe is the outstanding quality of three important factors. The excellent coffee (from the hands of Ed Cutcliffe, Little Marionette), upbeat staff and a drool worthy menu which is fortified by it’s offering of Luxe bakery pastries. A refreshing approach of taking it ‘back to basics’ is a risk that has definitely paid off for these new kids on an already café cluttered block.
From the menu, highly recommended is a beverage from the phenomenal smoothie and milkshake ‘buffet’. Our number one choice is the banana smoothie ‘according to Tim’, whatever the secret ingredient to this bad boy is we suggest they keep it under wraps. Also deserving of a delectable mention is their take on the breakfast brushcetta, laden with delicious seasonal berries it is nice to finally see a café embracing breakfast menu items with a twist.
