Oxford Street is known for a lot of things, and while Hungry Jacks might satisfy your cravings after a big night on the dance floor, it certainly doesn’t hit the spot if you’re looking to impress a date, or just after a classy night out with friends. Enter Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon, set to teach Oxford Street a thing or two about class, all with signature French flair.

The décor at Claire’s Kitchen is immaculate. The black and white colour scheme with delicate candle light and vintage style French settees make you feel as though you’ve wandered into a glamorous French film. The music alternates between dramatic classical scores and sensual French jazz, helping you to forget the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street that lies just outside the door.

French waiters and fancy lounges are one thing, but no trip to France would be worth its salt without the food and wine. The wine list is distinctly French, with a wide, reasonably priced selection. The menu boasts many French favourites, including Twice Baked Three Cheese Soufflé, Traditional Steak Tartare, Duck Liver Parfait and of course, snails baked with garlic and butter , and that’s just for starters. The main menu has highlights of blue eye trevalla with spinach dumplings, spatchcock with kipfler potatoes and a duck pie with red wine and melted brie.  While the dessert menu offers slightly fewer delights, it’s the savoury options really are what make Claire’s Kitchen.

Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon also open for brunch on Sundays, adding delights such as Asparagus and Poached Egg with Saffron Hollandaise to their offerings.

A big draw card for many will be the service, not only are the waiters friendly, attentive and immaculately dressed, they are also French. Claire’s Kitchen at le Salon will satisfy all your Francophile needs, right down to the accents.
