The Tiki Bar Kitchen
There is nothing freaky about this new Bondi tiki
March 09,2012
Fancy some Eastern suburbs cool at only a fraction of the price? Well lucky for you we have the answer. Located right in the heart of Bondi Junction, three week old Tiki Bar Kitchen is the latest and greatest on trend pop-up to emerge around Sydney town. With a casual diner style vibe perfectly complimented by a fun and eclectic atmosphere, Tiki Bar Kitchen brings to life Polynesian culture in the most unexpected of places.
Hidden under ground on little old Spring St, the wall to wall and not to mention wall to floor tiki inspired interior immediately sends you to a world away from the run-down outside surroundings. Designed with simplicity in mind, Tiki Bar Kitchen was conceptualised as an affordable after work modern tapas bar that is light hearted and fancy (shmancy) free, a concept of which has finally given Bondi Junction the trendy edge it has been looking for.
Food is quaintly cheap and cheerful with all menu items coming in at an impressive $10 and under. You will be pleasantly surprised as chicken tiki wings arrive on ping pong bats and sliders rest easy upon dart boards. Be sure to try the note worthy rum spiced ribs which are every bit as good as they sound. The owner’s will even throw in a miniature sized novelty bin for your convenient riblette disposal. All these mini delectable delights go hand in hand with $5 coronas and house spirits which, lucky for us are not exclusive to a happy hour threshold.
If you’re into Hip Hop and R’n’B be sure to get yourself down there on a Wednesday night with a resident DJ dedicating tunes to all things old school cool.
