Wilbur's Place
The Best quickie in town
February 23,2012
No one knows who “Wilbur” is, and quite frankly, not many people care. But there is one fact; whoever Wilbur is he has impeccable taste in food.
Situated in the middle of Kings Cross, you’d expect Wilbur’s to be filled with hungover backpackers and other seedy types. But don’t worry, you can go to Wilbur’s on a Sunday morning and not be confronted by such a sight, because despite the very reasonable prices, Wilbur’s draws the young family crowd on weekends and a respectable business crowd during the week.
The food is fresh, tasty and quick. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and a scrumptious all day sweets menu, Wilbur’s Place has any meal covered. From a brioche Bun with Rhubarb Custard for breakfast to the best tomato and cheese roll you’ll ever have the pleasure of munching on for lunch to a beautiful pork and prune arancini with rosemary mayo for dinner, a quick trip to Wilbur’s to line your stomach before taking on the Cross is a must. Oh! And it’s BYO, so you can start the party early.
Wilbur’s Place seems like it’s come straight out of a sleepy country town, with its rustic charm, friendly service and community feel. Alas it’s in the middle of Sydney’s Sin City and can be credited with drawing a whole new demographic to the area.
Check it out this weekend and you’ll see a radically new side of Kings cross.
