Sydney's Cycle In Cinema

Exchange the popcorn for some peddles at Sydney's Cycle In Cinema

Sydney

Attention all cyclists and movie lovers, grab your bikes and get peddling. Forget slumping in front of a screen, here is the healthiest way to enjoy a film with Magnificent Revolution’s open air Cycle In Cinema.

The Cycle In Cinema started in the UK as part of Magnificent Revolution’s education project to promote renewable energy with pedal powered installations, workshops and events. Now it’s here in Australia.

It’s quite simple: Friday, Saturday or Sunday night this week bring along your bike to Taylor Square from 7:30pm and plug into the generator stands. Then all that is needed is some leg muscle to power the visuals! In collaboration with Queer Screen and the College of Fine Arts, each movie night has a unique theme and has been programmed with a different series of short films.

This initiative comes as part of City of Sydney’s We Make This City art program that has been taking place in Taylor Square over the summer. We have to say we love the idea. It’s free, good for the environment and safe – don’t worry, you won’t need to wear a helmet!

Check out the website for the full program and don’t forget to bring something to sit on for when you’re not peddling. But please leave the lycra at home for this one!
