Potato Ghetto
The Ghetto hits the Eastern Suburbs
July 18,2012
The Eastern Side of town has been missing is a little ghetto love. Introducing Potato Ghetto, the latest addition to the legendary Miss Chu’s family. Merely a week old, this new Bondi hot spot has opened right next door to its sister tuckshop on Campbell parade.
The fittings have been designed to create an expansion of the already established Eastern Miss Chu’s. Decked out in similar authentic Vietnamese style furnishings and an almost mirrored open kitchen setup, you get the immediate sense that these two eateries are indeed from the same family tree.
However, there are a few welcomed differences that will save these two dwellings from sibling rivalry. Potato Ghetto appears to have taken on more of a high-tech theme as opposed to the traditional Miss Chu’s retro vibe, with iPhone chargers hanging from the awnings. You will also see a new food offering, much as the name describes the star of the menu will be indeed an assortment of potato delicacies.
Although still in its infancy stage, the menu is set to indulge the common spud with an Asian inspired overhaul and turn it into a delectable delight. Toppings will include a variety of options anywhere from Hanoi pork to leek and coriander. There will also be a range of mouth-watering accompaniments so the potatoes don’t have to go stag. Stand outs include the lamb shanks with Pho spiced Jus and the Crispy Vietnamese Crepes.
If the success of the already established Miss Chu’s is anything to go by, we know where we will find all of Bondi this weekend. Be sure to get in early, this is one ghetto you will want to be a part of.
